Examples of Phone Scams
YOU RECEIVE A CALL…
- from someone who says they’re from Microsoft and you have a problem with your computer. They say they can fix the problem–if you give them remote access to your computer–they will get access to all your files and personal information–install a virus or malware and charge you to remove it!
- from someone claiming to be from your bank asking you to confirm your bank and security details.
Once you have provided them with this information, they take money from your bank account.
- from someone with a “fantastic investment opportunity” –such investments are normally extremely poor value
with little hope of any financial return.
