Consumers’ Political Promise

Consumers’ Political Promise

Each candidate standing in the election has been asked to make their Consumers’ Political Promise by completing a set of questions designed to give islanders a clear view of how consumers’ interests will be represented in the States.

We believe that it crucial that consumer issues are on the political agenda of those who will be representing Jersey as decision makers. To help ensure candidates to consider the consumer we invited all of them to complete our Political Promise, which has been written and based on islanders’ views and our research

The results from the questions, which have also been sent to those individuals who have been re-elected unopposed, will be published before election day on 11th May.

The Consumers’ Political Promise covers a range of issues which today’s islanders face, from food costs, pricing transparency, interaction between consumers and financial services in Jersey, primary health care and customer services.

Consumer Council Chairman Carl Walker said: ‘More than ever before, the views of consumers in this island need to be taken seriously and pushed up the agenda, none more so than in the States Chamber itself.

‘Therefore, the answers the candidates give to our Consumers’ Political Promise will allow the electorate to judge for themselves who will best represent their views in the States before they make their way to the polling stations next month.’
