Our Big Breakfast Briefing
Jersey Consumer Council’s inaugural breakfast briefing at the Pomme D’Or Hotel on 1st October, proved to be a huge success. We proudly shared our news, about the projects we’ve undertaken to date and of those which are
currently in the pipeline, to nearly 100 delegates, from a cross-section of our co-collaborators and Island representatives – we even ran out of chairs!
We had politicians; civil servants; retailers; charities; telecoms operators;
transport companies; utility suppliers; health workers and, of course, members of the public. The event was opened by Senator Alan Maclean, whose introduction underlined just how much the Jersey Consumer Council has grown since its inception in 1995. The Council is funded by Senator Maclean’s Economic Development Department and he stressed the
important role that a strong independent consumer voice plays in creating and maintaining a competitive market place;
competition which, in turn, encourages innovation, investment and growth, which is so vital for the Island’s economy.
